TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.
The regular monthly meeting of the above board was held on Wednesday evening. Present—Messrs J. Blyth (chairman), G. Mason, P. Coira, 8. Clinch, and W. Storey. correspondence. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows ; From the Standard Insurance Co % notifying that the premium on insurance policy (office and furniture), was due on 24th Nov.
From Property Tax Commissioner notifying that the cost of a service or supply to any buildings occupied by the Government will be borne by Departments using the same. From the Telegraph Department stating that the wishes of the board re removal of certain telegraph posts would be complied with. From Mr E. Kennedy drawing attention to the non-removal of nightsoil from his premises. From Messrs C. W. Fiber and Co., covering lists and prices of drain pipes. From Messrs Perry and Perry, stating that they had authorised the shifting of verandah posts in front of Mr J. Beri’s shop, From Hospital and Charitable Aid Department giving name of one recipient of charitable aid in the board’s district.
From the clerk County Counei. covering specification of conditions as to supply of dog collars. From the clerk County Council, advising that the second moiety of the board’s contribution to Hospital and Charitable Aid, amounting to £lO 17s 8d was due, and asking that the same might be remitted to the credit of the council at the Bank of New Zealand at Timaru at an early date. TENDERS. The following tenders were received for Asphalting (Contract 36)—T. Andrews (Ashburton), 2s per yard; Monahan and Laing (Temuka), Is 9d per yard ; Thos. Maloney (Geraldine), la 6|d per yard. Messrs Monahan and Laing offered to keep the paths in repair for twelve months if their tender was accepted. After consideration it was resolved tnat the tender of Messrs Monahan and Laing be accepted on the conditions specified. DOS COLLARS. The clerk was instructed to get the necessary supply of dog collars from Mr Brewer.
©teesebe's eepoet. The overseer's report was to the following effect:— J-IThe pump on the office premise! was out of order and required atteatioß. Mr Hopkiaaon had been carting material to til) hollow in section 54, fronting on Main South Road and Fraser street, and offered to c&rt what the board required to raise footpaths (which partly came in the same gaily) to the necessary height at the rate of 8d per yard. He thought it worth the board’s consideration. He noticed in copying out specification of previous asphalting contract that no provisions had been made defining the face required in the width asphalted. He reminded the board that it was time to order the dog collars for the ensuing season. He fonnd there were still some unregistered dogs, and he had net bad the certificates produued from other districts. He presumed the owners should baye been summoned, but this duty did not appertain to the registrar. Sir William Hlunden had complained that his horse had twice been injured in a wire fence, through other horses challenging him from the outside, tie had informed him that it was out his (the overseer’s) duty to impound same, but that he would draw the board’s attention to the matter.
It was agreed that the board could not accept Mr Hopkinsun’s offer for carting clay. CLEBK OF WOBKS. It was resolved that the overseer be appointed clerk of the works oyer the asphalting contract. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £3l 3s 6d were passed for payment. The meeting then terminated.
