S.C. HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The annual meeting of this board was held yesterday. Present—Messrs D. M. Boss, J. Jackson (Timaru), J. M. Barker, M. Quinn, and Captain Hay ter. An apology was received from Mr .B. A. Barker (Geraldine County). On the motion of Captain Hayter, seconded by Mr Quinn, Mr Jackson was re-elected chairman. Mr Jackson then took the chair, and briefly returned thanks, It was agreed to bold the next meeting on the second Friday of the month—Friday week, and the question ot place of future meetings was deferred until then. Mr Barker stated that he had been elected by the General County Council in place of Mr Moore under a misapprehension, the Council supposing Mr Moore could not continue to attend to the duties ; he had learned that this was not the case, and as Mr Moore had been an excellent member, he would resign and allow the board to re elect Mr Moore.—As no one was certain that Mr Moore could or would resume the duties, the board declined to accept Mr Barker’s resignation until further information is obtained. The meeting then terminated.
