LABOR DISPUTES.
London, Nov. 25. The Union leaders are puzzled at the Australians returning £SOO, which was cabled as a loan at the termination «f the strike. They are now desirous that the colonies should accept the sum as a gift to relieve the distress among th© strikers. Mr Fitzgerald, the delegate from Australia, has departed for the provinces in order to raise funds to help distressed families. NEW ZEALAND. Auckland, Nov. 26. The Gasworks Employtfi’ Union have opened a subscription list on behalf of the miners at Huntly, who are out ot work, Invercargill, Nov. 26. Since Ist September, when the wharf laborers at the Bluff struck work, the Onion Company have paid £I2OO to free laborers for work done, while tbe closing of tbe West Coast and Newcaetle mines caused the company to purchase 6500 tons of Southland brown coal, the railway freight on which to port was little ehort of £2OOO.
