AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above board was held last night. Present— Messrs J. Ashwell (ehairman), E, Brown, A. Frew, B. Oarr and A. Russell. OOEBESPOBDEBCB. Correspondence was read— From the Audit Department, applying for payment to the public account at the Bank of New Zealand of the sum of £1 13s 4d, cost of auditing the board’s books. From Mr John Washington, applying to have the road opened from John Street to his section, No. 805. The letter stated that if Mr Douglas removed his fence to the right spot a few hours’ work would be sufficient to give a right-of-way. In connection with this matter Mr Douglas asked that the board would not move in the matter until a surveyor had laid off the section recently taken up.—lt was decided that Mr Douglas be informed that he must give Mr Washington a right-of-way for wheel traffic to his section by the end of the week, and that within fourteen days he remove all obstructions outside his proper boundary, I PROJECTED IMPROVEMENT. It was resolved that the clerk indicate upon the plan certain roads to be maintained and opened up, and forward same as early as possible to the Crown Commissiener. dteebebb'b BEPOBT. The oyerseer reported that during the month the authorised repairs to Studholme street had been carried out by day labor, one man having been employed for 3£ days. He requested the board to express their opinion as to whore the money accruing ia respect of *he village settle, meets had been expended. Owing to pressure of other work his inspection of the town as Health Officer had not been completed, and his report was therefore held over. INTERVIEW. Mr Douglas waited upon the board and applied for some improvements to the cutting in Princes street, near Mr P. Manning's. Owing to a section having been recently taken up he had to make other arrangements for carting to hie house. He also asked for some formation in Shaw street. The work would not be a costly one, and it he were allowed to undertake the work he would contribute labour to the value of £l. It was resolved that Mr Douglas be informed that the work will be carried out as soon as the fuads accruing from the Village Settlement are to band. CORSE ON ROADS. The overseer was instructed to have the gorse on the east belt grabbed at adjoining occupiers’ expense. CREEK RESERVES, The chairman stated that in conjunction with Mr Brown he had waited upon Mr Baker, who had promised to have the creek reeervos vested in the board by the Ist of January if possible. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £l4 4s were passed for payment, aud the meeting terminated.
