GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of this board was held on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs A. White (chairman), W. S. Maslin, J. Williams, R. Hammond, N. Dunlop, and J. M undell. correspondence. Correspondence was read and dealt with as fellows: From the Rev. A. B. Todd asking for culverts at the front and back entrances of manse grounds. Mr Todd attended in support ot the application, and having withdrawn, it was pointed out that the board always dealt differently with public than with a private entrance. After discussion the works committee were authorised to inspect the places and do what work was required, crossings to be put in where practicable in place of culverts-

From Mr W. Walton, captain of the Fire Brigade, asking the board to fix the ataount of remuneration to be paid for the horse taking the engine to a fire, also to remove the hood over the firebell as it threw the sound down. —It was decided to give £1 for the first horse taking the engine to a fire and 5s to the person bringing it back. It was alse decided to try the experiment of removing the hood of the bell.

From the Temuka Town Board ,asking for a copy of the Board’s by-laws. —Copy sent. From Mr R. Hammond, asking permission to run the water now going through the centre of his premises along the drain at the back and put it in its old course again at the other side of his section, as at present it dammed up and destroyed a considerable amount of the low land. He offered to do all the work if the board found the pipes for crossing the footpath.—lt was decided to allow the applicant to do the work as suggested, provided he took all the responsibility in the matter.

From one of the board’s tenants, asking the board to allow him a little time for reducing th© amount of his rent now due. —It was decided that the board could not break the conditions of the lease by granting an extension of time.

A letter sent to Mr Dunlop with regard to a bole cut in the asphalt of the race by one of his employees was read ; and the reply received. —As it was the first offence it was decided to take no further steps in the matter. REPORTS. The rangers’s report for the month was read and also the overseer’s report. Tt was decided to request Mr C. E. Sherratt to return the articles borrowed from the board. DESTROYED LAMP. A lamp destroyed by Mr T. Kelliher’s horses when running away having cost Ifis fid to repair, the clerk was instructed to take the necessary steps to obtain payment of the same. MISCELLANEOUS. The works committee were authorised to attend to several small matters, interview. Mr J. D, Gore waited on the board, and asked for a crossing to bis property, Talbot street. It was decided to grant the application on the usual conditions applying to private property, namely, at applicant’s own expense. RENTS. Some of the rents due not having been paid, the clerk was instructed to take legal steps to recover the same. HATE. Mr Maslin moved the requisite notice for the striking of a rate of in the £ at the next meeting. I ACCOUNTS. ' Accounts amounting to £45 11s fid were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned. DOMAIN BOABD. 1 A meeting of the Domain Board was then held, the same members being present. Tenders were dealt with as follows :

Leasing Reserve 1624 —J. Mundell, £6; T, Herlihy, £6 10s; J. Turner, £7 10a (accepted). Cutting grass, large bush park— W. S. Maslin, 7s (accepted). amounting to £8 11s were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
