CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS.

Messrs Matson and 00. report:— Eat Cattle —Smaller entries of fat cattle. Beef may be quoted at from 20s to 28s per 100 lbs .; Best .bullocks sold up to £ll 10s, cows to £7 10s and heifers to £8 10s each. Yeal—Small entry. Best calves 20s to 25s each, others at 7s to 15s eachj Store Cattle-—Small entry, nothing but about 40 head mixed cattle, chiefly cows, were sent forward for Thursday’s market. Anything in forward con r dition sold well, but old and poor lines were neglected. Dairy Cattle —In dairy stock very little business was done ; best cows £5 10s to £6 10s, with a very limited inquiry; second class lots, 20s to £2 10s each. Eat Sheep—About ap average entry to hand. On account of a South Canterbury client, a fine line of crossbred wethers and maiden ewes at from 18s 9d to 20s 6d ; on account of Mr A. M, Clark, a fine line of crossbred wethers at from 19s lid to £1 Is 3d, and a line of maiden ewes at froip 18s lid to 19s 3d. Pigs —Larger entry than on the previous week. Competition for all lines was brisk, pnd good prices were obtained. Bacon pigs sold at 30s to 45s each, porkers 15s to 27s each, stores 9s to 15s each, weaners 3s to 0s each. , Sheepskins—Butchers’ crossbreds sold as follows:—Extra big skins, 64 to 7s lOd each ; good sorts, 4s 10d,55, to 5s 9d each; inferior, 3s 6d to 4s each ; merinos, 3s, 3s 6d, 4s, to 4s (Sq. each. Factory Skins—Sold several large lins at good prices. Sough fat £t Id to Hd per lb. Tallow, inferior,, 'jUTs po 18s. Hides at late ratesj. Country held over.
