OHBI3TOHUEOH GQPN EXCHANGE, j The following is the Corn Exchange] report (per N. P. Meyers, Secretary),’ for the weekending Friday, August] Ist: # ; The local enquiry continues good] for wheat, and, though latest English| cablegrams do not show any decided] rise in value, the market would i appear to be exceedingly sensitive, j principally owing to the weather pre-j vailing at the moment in Europe. Thej shipments of wheat from Lyttelton] during the month have been large,] and there is consequently no difficulty] in obtaining storage at the , port, j Oats—Milling and heavy feed (up to| 451 b per bushel) have been enquired j for; other sorts neglected, Barley-rr; Prime malting has seen a large en-j quiry, with but few parcels offering.: For inferior and feed sorts little] demand exists. Beans—Very .few samples are offering. Good bright] samples (unbroken) command full| rates. , Peas—Prussian blues _ have, slightly increased in value, owing to, orders’ for Sydney. Grass Seeds— Ryegrass: But few farmers’ parcels! are offering. The bulk of stocks arej machine-dressed, and in few hands., English seed has arrived, and is in, competition with colonial stocks. Cocksfoot; Stocks have narrowed; down, and holders are asking extreme, rates. Colonial-grown clever is now entitled to a place in market reports, and the samples on offer show that in a very short time, the imported seed will haye a most formidable competitor. Ultimately there is little doubt but that we shall be large exporters of these seeds. Potatoes: Derwents find buyers at quotations.
