The body of late Henry Talbot, the third officer of the Persian Empire, who was drowned at Auckland harbor on the 30th March in attempting the rescue of some people who had been capsized from a boat, has been recovered. It was found that his neck had been broken, and this pointed to his having been struck by the paddle wheel of the steamer. Owing to the circumstances of Talbot’s death a proposal is on foot to grant his remains a public funeral.
