TIMARU MARKETS. Mr George Priest reports for week ending sth April, 1890 : Wheat has suffered a decline in price during the week, which is owing to the local mills having laid in large stocks, and speculators have eased off buying for a time. Prices to-day are for prime tusean 2s Sd to 2s 9d, velvet and pearl 2s to 2s Bd, red chaff 2s Gd to 2s 7d, fowl wheat Is 9d to 2s. Oats—No improvement in this cereal, and prices remain at last week’s rates, viz., Is 5d to ls6d for Canadians, danish Is 2d to Is 3d, sparrowbills to Is 4d, no enquiry for duns and tartars. Barley—Little or no demand except for prime malting. Grass Beed—dame as last quotations, for good clean from old pasture 8s to 3s 3d. Potatoes—Derwents are now being enquired for and I quote £2 10s per ton, f.0.b., at Timaru; kidneys, no demand. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sedney, April 8. Chick wheat, 2s 9d to 2s 10d ; milling, 3s 8d to 3s 9d. Oats, dull, Is lOd to 2s 2d. Maize, sound, 3s lOd to dis. Barley, Cape, 2s Gd to 2s 9d. Bran and pollard, 7id. ' Peas, 3s lOd. Potatoes, New Zealand, £4'; Circular Head, £4 to £4 ss. Onions, £4. Butter, dairy-made,Gd to lOd ; factorymade, lid to la. Cheese, did to 5d ; 5d to s|d.
