MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the board was held in the Road Board Office, Pee! Forest, on Friday, the 21st intst. i Present—The Hon. J. B. A. Acland ' (chairman), Messrs C. G. Tripp and 11. Thew. The following correspondence was read and considered : From the Geraldine County Couucil, intimating that the council had confirmed the proposal of the board to close the roads described on plan JSTos. 257 and 259, but the closuro cf the road described in plan No. 258 had been objected to ; therefore they could rot consent to its being closed. From the Geraldine County Council, forwarding a cheque for £9B 8a 31, being the amount received from Government as subsidy on rates collected by the board. The overseer was directed to report upon the practicability of leading the water out of the small lagoon near th». Mount Feel road into the drain crossing the road near Long Bush ; also to have the drain through the Peel Forest township cleared out. Mr Tripp brought under the notice of board the state of the Clayton stockbridge, part of the deck planking having shrunk so much as to make it dangerous to J crossing sheep.—The overseer was directed to attend to the matter, and to have the end of the road on the bank of the Rangitata river'at Bethune's cutting fenced off. Accounts to the amount of £96 183 2d were passed for payment. The board then adjourned.
