AUCTIONEERS’ KSPORT,

GERALDINE. Messrs J. Muadell and Co. report sales for the week ended March 15ih, 1890, as follows : At the Geraldine yards on Wed* nes-day, sth March, there was a moderate entry of stock .sent forward fnrtho day, cvmsisiing of 2SOO sheep, S 9 head of cattle, and 19 pigs. The following are our quotations : Sheep—Two-tooth crossbreds 8a 7d, crossbred ei.Ba 9d, crossbred lambs 8s scl to 7s 9d. At Winchester yards on the 11th inst. we sold crossbred ewes (sound sheep) at 4s 9d, culls at 2s 4d. At Washdyke yards on the 13tb we sold crossbred ewes at 9s to 8a K)d, halfbred lambs at 6s. Cattle—At Geraldine yards we sold fat utoies at £3 I2s Gel to £5, cows in profit at £8 10s to £2 10s, dry cows £2 5s to £1 15s, 2-year-old heifers £2 10s, yearlings £1 Is. At Winchester yards on the 11th we sold 10 head stores at £5, 3 fat cows at £3, At Washdyke yards on the 13th we sold forward store heifers at £3 2s 6d, 2-year-old steers and heifers at £2,' cows in profit at £3 7s Gd.

Pigs—At Geraldine yards on the sth we sold porkers at £1 9s, small stores at 13s, 12s 6d, to 10s. Private Sales of Sheep—We have placed 2000 crossbred lambs at 8s 3d to 6s 3d; also 500 station merino wethers at 4s Gd.

Country Sales—On account of Mr Samuel Breadley, we held a clearing sale of live stock, implements, etc. The sale was largely attended, and competition good on all lots submitted, as the following prices will show : Crossbred lambs at Bs, balfbred ewes 7s 3d, E.L. rams (full-mouth sheep) H guineas, cows in full profit and springing £5 to £4 2s 6d, 2-year-old heifers £2 14s, yearlings £l, Horses, draughts, £2l to £l3. Pigs, bacon sorts £2 5s to £2, porkers £l 3s 6d to £l, breeding sows £1 5s to £1 3s. On account of the Rev. George Barclay we held a clearing sale of live stock, furniture, and effects. There was a large attendance from all parts of the district, every lot submitted selling under keen competition at high prices. TIMARU MARKETS. Mr George Priest reports for week ending 15th March, 1890 Wheat—There has been during the week a little more animation in the market, but I cannot report any advance worth noting. Actual sales have been made as follows ;—Tuscan, 2s 7d to 2s Sid ; pearl and velvet, very prime, to 2s Bd, medium, 2s 6id • hunters, 2s 5d to2s7d. I have strong enquiry for pearl and velvet. Oats—These have advanced a little during the week, which no doubt is owing to the Wakacipu calling here on her way to Sydney) Prices to-day are for prime Canadians, Is 5d to Is 5-£d; tartars, Is sd; danish, to la 3d • sparrowbills, Is 4d. I have large orders at above quotations. Barley—Except for prime malting, which I quote 2s 8d to 2s 9d, no other demand. Ryegrass—Not much enquiry this week, and may be quoted, as last week, for prime old pasture, 3s to 3s 3d; medium, 2s 6d to 2s 9d. (I am still buying). Potatoes Derwents, I cannot quote; kidneys £3, f.o.b. Onions—No demand, ENGLISH MARKETS. London, March 13. Frozen mutton and beef are unchanged but lamb has improved Id per lb. i, March 14. Australian wheat, ex warehouse, BBs Cd, nominal; New Zealand longberried ditto, ex store, 37s 6d, steady. Sugar—German beet, !2sGd; Java 15s 3d. f New Zealand cheese, best quality, 445; New Zealand butter, best quality,. £5. March 15. A further decline has taken place in a.--ew Zealand hemp. Quotations are—Good quality, £25 ; fair, £22, with poor demand.
