wraKrrat Hie New Zealand Drug Company has declared a dividend at the rate of 7 per cent, per annum, added £IOOO to the fire insurance, and £SOO to the staff fund, The company lost £920 by the duty imposed on eacchanno, and expect to lose another £3OO. Four Chinamen holding a claim at Deep Creek Tributary, Roaring Meg, Otago, obtained £4OO worth of sold for a month’s work. Ihe previous washings netted £ls a week per man. Mining is at a standstill for want of water. Several sections in the village settlements to the north of Auckland have been forfeited, owing to the noncompliance of the settlers with the conditions. At the Dunedin City Court on Friday, Burratt, for attempted murder, was remanded for a week. The prosecutor is still in a serious condition, suffering from paralysis and probably a fracture of the skull.
