TEMUKA ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Temuka Eoad Board was held on Tuesday. Present —Messrs Talbot (Chairman), Bisset, and Snell. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £93 17s were passed for payment. LAPSED MEETING. The chairman explained that the meeting which otherwise ought to have taken place last month lapsed < " of a quorum. He deemed it advisable in view of the harvest, to pass the most pressing accounts and adjourn the meeting for a month. — The chairman’s action was approved. COEEESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read From Mr J. Meyer, asking that the names of D. McCallum and J. Whitebead and Son might be substituted for his in respect of part of section 6383 j

and from D. McCallum and J. Whitehead and Son agreeing to the alteration.—The same to be made.

From Mr Evan Vallesder, notifying that he had applied to the County Council for a slaughterhouse license in respect of part of rural section 6383, at Epworth, and asking the Board to signify their approval of same. —The Board had no objection to offer. From Mr Q-. Prentice, Waitohi, asking that his name might be removed from the rate-roll in respect of R.S. 34737, he having sold the same to Mr Martin Hullen.—The same to be done, subject to Mr Hullen’s consent being obtained. From the Crown Lands Department, asking for a return of the flax land in the district.— The clerk to supply return as nearly as possible. From Mr E. Thomas, asking the Board to clear the drain on the upper side of Penny’s road, and signifying his willingness to contribute half the cost. —Agreed to. From the Property Tax Department, advising that a voucher for payment of £2 15s 7d, for rates on Crown lands, had been sent to the Treasury for payment. From Mr M. Qainn, asking for repairs to the bridge leading from Milford road to Rhodes’s Island.—The overseer to attend to same.

From Mr A. M. Clark, drawing attention to the growth of gorseon the Epworth road, and requesting the Board to take steps to have the same removed; and further asking that a portion of Epworth road be formed and shingled before winter.—Mr Clark to be informed that steps were being taken to have the gorse removed, and that the work asked for will be put in hand. From Mr H. J. Weeks, soliciting order for Thompson’s Sheep Brand Register. A copy of same to be procured.

From the Survey Office, stating that owing to pressure of work the plans of the Native leserve, showing subdivisions and owners, were not yet prepared, hut that as soon as possible the Board could be supplied with a tracing. The latter would, however, have to be done at the cost of the Board.

From Mr G. Winter, Eacgitata, applying for payment of 20s for bury ■ ing a dead horse which was lying on the road near his section, and of which complaints had been made. The applicant had not yet found the owner.—Consideration was deferred, pending further information as to owner. The charge also was considered excessive. overseer's report.

The overseei submitted a condensed report, which called for no resolution, The meeting then terminated.
