Oats, feeding sorts, 2s 8d to 3s; seed, 2s lOd to 3s Id. Maize, 3s 4d. Barley, Cape, 2s 8d tp 2s lOd. Bran, to Bd, Pollard, Peas, blue Prussians, 4s 6d. Chaff, New Zealand, 5s lOd. Potatoes, New Zealand, £6 15s to £7; Circular Hoads, £7 10s. Onions are scarce at £34 to £3P. Butter, dairyfinade, 7di to 8d ; factory-made, 9d. Cheese, ; locally made, 59 to 6d; New Zealand, 6d to 7d. Bacon, quiet, local cured, 6d to 7d; New Zealand cured 9d to 1 9£d. Hams are in strong demand and New Zealand cured is quoted at Is, Melbouenb, Oct. 15.
Wheat is in demand and holders are asking 5s 6d. The market has an upward tendency. Flour, stone-made, £1111s; roller-made, £ll 15s, with an upward inclination. Oats are quiet, prime stout, 3s Maize, New Zealand, ex store, 3s 6d. Barley, prime feeding, 3s 8d to Bs 9d - medium malting, 4s 3|d. Brandis 3d. Sugar, second whites, £24ls*per ton. Oct. 17.
; At, the wool isales to-day prices remained very firm. Competition was animated, especially so on behalf of English and foreign buyers, on account of the bulk of the , wools not, meeting with American ; competition. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company’s catalogue comprised 2429, bales, all of which sold. The following prices were realised Creasy merinos, Is o|d; greasy merino pieces, lid; greasy lambs, Is Id; greasy crossbreds, llfd ; scoured merino, Is 9|d; scoured merino pieces, Is Bid. Adelaide, Oct. 16. Wheat, 4s 10£d to 4s lid. Flour, Stone-made, £lO 15s; roller-made, £ll 15s. New Zealand oats, 4a 3d to 4s 4d. Barley, malting, 4s 3d to 4s 9d. Bran, 9d to 9|d, Pollard to Is. Potatoes, Circular Heads, are firmer at £lO 10s.
: ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Oct. 16. The wool sales closed very strong, and the highest prices were obtained except for faulty merinos. Good scoured was a penny, and greasy lambs and washed a halfpenny to a jienny dearer than closing prices at, last series. The outlook is promising, as stocks are small and there is not a single bale for the coming wool sales at Antwerp. Up to date 284,000 bales of wool were catalogued for the present auctions, of which only 4000 bales have been held over. 110,000 have been sold for export. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United - Kingdom is 1,608,000 quarters, and for the Continent 440,000. The American visible Supply amounts to 19,875,000 bushels, The English wheat market is advancing, and* displays increasing firmness. The Continental is unchanged.' American is steady,
