BOARD OF REVIEWERS,
Messrs W. Postlethwaite and E. G. Sterricker, and Captain J. H. Sutter met as a Board of Eeviewers at the Temuka Courthouse on Thursday last, to haar and deal with objections to assessments made for property tax purposes in the Temuka and Arowhenua Town District*, and in the Temuka Riding. The following were, the cases dealt with : Ephraim Griffiths, Orari, 175 a lr, £l6oo.—Reduced to £I4OO. Mrs Eliza Kimber, Timaru, 100 acres, situated south of Raugitata river mouth, valued at £l5O. The land was worthless. Had spent £IOO on it, and in 10 years received £37 from it. Wished the Government would buy it back at £l5O. Reduced to £125. W. L. J. and W. Kennaway, a J number of sections, 664 a 3r, put down J at £6OOO, and others, 686 a Or lOp, j valued at £44s9.—Reduced to £4987 \ and £3300. W. R. Browne, 100 a, valued at £BOO, and 200 a, valued at £I7OO. Reduced to £750 and £I4OO. John Earl, Geraldine, said the area of his land, section 3163 should be 22a instead of 36a.—Reduced by 14a, and value from £360 to £220. Maurice Lawler, Geraldine, reserve 1400, Temuka, 140 a Zr, £IOOO Reduced to £950. James Wright, Eangitira Valley. Temuka, freehold, 300 a3r 19p.— Reduced from £2889 to £2700.
J. W. Wright, Hangitira "Valley, part .U.S. 7099, 160 a, £ls2o.—Reduced to £I2BO. A. W. Money, 100 a at Rangitata Island. Reduced from £420 to £350; 209 acres reduced from £B6O to £836. J. Page, 1465 a 2r 28p, £7OOO. Reduced to £SOOO. G-. Levens, Ternuka, part section 3151. The applicant said G-overn- ; ment had allowed a road on por- ; tion of property to be sold, rendering it valueless.—Reduced to £25. P. Snell, Rangitata Island, 372 a, £l2so.—Reduced by acres, and to £I2OO. Moses Hammond, Rangitata Island. —Reduced in acreage to 146 a; in value from £770 to £584. T. McKay, 187 a 3r 29p, £560. Reduced to £528. J. G. Ruddenklau, 1917 a, £II,OOO. Reduced in acreage, by I24|a, and in value to £BO6B 10s. C. Bowker, 185 a 3r, Orari, £lll4. —Reduced to £IO2O. 251 a lr, £502. —Reduced to £4BB 10s. D. Inwood, 162 a, Winchester, £1620. —Reduced to £1053. T. S. Dunn, 252 a, £3781:-Reduced to £3OOO. A. B. Dunn, 440 a, £49o4.—Seduced by 178 a and to £4463. C. Bissett, Orari.—Reduced in area by 38a, and in value to LIOOO. The objections of Messrs Meyer (Ternuka), J. Brown (Milford), and G-eo. Tayler (Winchester), were not entertained, and several of those who bad lodged objections to valuations did not appear, and their applications were struck out. The Board will again meet in the Ternuka Courthouse to-day, when the remaining objections will be dealt with.
