The whole brigade was under tbe command of Lieutenant-Colonel Lean ; Major H. Slater was Chief of Stuff, Major S. Newall Brigade Major, Major Young Camp-Quartermaster, Captain-Command-ant Laing-Meaaon Camp Adjutant. The Rifle Corps in the North Canterbury district were constituted No. 1 Battalion, Major J. Joyce commanding, Major Francis Senior Major, Captain M. Bowron Junior Major, Lieutenant W. Day Adjutant. The Rifle Corps of South Canterbury were c instituted No. 2 Battalion, Major Moore commanding, Acting-Captain Bryars Adjutant. The E and C Batteries were under tbe charge of Captain Martin, and worked independently of the infantry. Reveille was sounded at 6 a.m., guard mounting und company drill 7 a.m,, breakfast 8, commissioned officers’ parade 11, dinner 1, parade 2.30, tea 6, guard mounting 7, first post 9.30, last post 10, lightsout 10.30
