A large meeting of Mandarins will bo held hero on an early date, when Mr Quong Tart, a weli-known merchant of Sydney, will be requested to state bis views on the treatment of the Chinese in Australia, and to suggest a method of equitably settling the difficulty. The {Jbinese question has temporarily ceased to excite public attention owing to the preparations being made for the Emperor’s marriage. Ottawa, January 8. In the course of an interview with Ministers a leading Chinese merchant stated that many of his fellow countrymen were preparing to leave the United States. He expressed the opinion that a million of Chinese would shortly leave the United States for Canada and Australia.
