THE AGNEWS.

Wellington, November 23.

William and Elizabeth Agnow were charged at the R. M. Court with using insulting and provoking language to the Premier on the 21st. Boib denied the charge, stating that they had merely asked for justice. The Hon. Major Atkinson gave evidence in support of the charge amid violent denunciations of himself and Sir R. Stout, who were declared by accused to be in league to rob them of land, and who were characterised as swindlers aud robbers. Each accused was ordered to find sureties to keep the peace for six months, one in £SO and two in £2O. They were removed protesting they would not tied the sureties. Latbb. Thin afternoon the Agnews were again brought before Mr Robinson, R.M., who informed them that as there seemed to be very little probability of their securing in Wellington the necessary sureties ordered by the Court, he would be inclined to take steps to have them sent on to Dunedin, where they might be more successful. Instead of taking the advice calmly, the couple received the proposal with derision, Agnow giving vent to a torrent of abusive language. His Worship remarking that it was useless to attempt to assist such ungracious people, intimated that ,he would adhere firmly to his former decision.
