S.C. HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday. Present—Messrs J. Jackson (in the chair), Barker, McLaran, Hayburst, and Dr Lovegrove.—Apologies were received for non-atlendanoe from Messrs Moore and Slse.

The secretary reported that he had written to several debtors ef the Board for settlement of claims, and threatening legal proceedings in default ef immediate payment. In most instances the parti-s written to had either paid the full amount or a substantial proportion of the sum doe.

Aftar a discussion it was dscided to rep'y that na reduction could bs made in th’ charge. A late pitient in the hospital wrote asking that the amount chargeable against him be reduced, as ow ng to the treatment received in the hospital he had been made a cripple for life.—lt was agreed that the sum ba reduced by £4 if the amount is paid within three months. A list of persons indebted to the Board was received, and it was resolved that Kiiintnonii'-s be taken out against them. Charitable aid cases were then dealt with.
