HOUSE PARADE.
COACHING.
There was an excellent bliow of entire horses at the 'Jimaru Horse Parade last Saturday. Taken all round they wore a very creditable selection, but ifc was remarkable that there were scarcely any horses from this district amongst them For years past this district contributed more than its share to > s outh Canterbury horse parades and shows. There are at present many excellent horses about here, but none.of them were shown, and in this matter we are inclined to think their owners made a mistake. It would have given us groat pleasure to write as favorably as possible on deserving local horses, but as they were not on the ground we cannot do so, and of course horses travelling in other districts have no interests for our readers. The draught class was the best represented, and though not owned here now Mr Matthews' breed occupied a prominent position in the parade Of these Early Morning and his full blother Bonny Breast Not were the most conspicuous. 'I he former was owned by Mr VV. Moore, of Timaru, but we learn that he was sold privately to Messrs Friedlander Bros., of Ashburton, where he will travel this season. The latter is the property of Mr E. T. Rhodes, and is a promising colt of three year's old. A more interesting borse for people in this district was Prince Victor, as he is to travel this season in the Temuka, G-eraldine, and intervening places. He is a splendid jet blai-k horse, standing over 17 hands high, and in 1886 he won fir«t prize and carried off the championship in Timaru in competition with Early Morning, Young Wellington, and Strath more, and many other famous horses. Prince Victor comes of a splendid stock, his sire being the famous Prince Kpyal, and his dam Blossom. He is in splendid condition, and as his owner, Mr R. Hunt, of Pleasant Point, will be his groom, aud will doubtless do all in his power to give satisfaction, he ought to have a splendid season. The following is the entry of horses '—• DBA.UQIITS."
