. A serious affray is reported as having taken place at Limoges, the caii’al of the Department L*pp*r Yi nne, between navvies out on s'rike and the po’ice. I be latter attempted to disperse a ratling b j ing held by the nnyvies, bat were set upon and roughly used by (hem, W' men took part in the affair, and as sisted the navvies by throwing boiling water on the police. The soldiers wire called out, but not b fore the police had b>en disarmed and severely beaten. The military ferociously charged the m b with fixed bayonets, and a large number of the rio'ers were fearfully wounded. Several were killed, and others terribly mutilated by the bayou ‘Is. Eventually the military succeeded in quelling the disturbance and restoring order.
