THE CHINESE QUESTION.
London, September 9. The Times states that rioting at Canton has not yet been subdued. The St. James' Gazette, in an trticle on the Chinese question, says that danger is to be anticipated from the Chinese fleet ia the Pacific, as it is superior to the British fleet in those waters.
Washington, September 9. The Chinese Exclusion Bill has passed through the Senate, New York, September 9.
The naval weakness of America is causing alarm throughout the States, in consequence of the strained relations existing between America and China. Pekin, September 9.
The Chinese Government have deferred the question of modifying the Chinese-American treaty for further deliberation.
Canton, September 9.
During the riots here the military charged the mob with fixed bayonets, and several of the rioters were wounded. There has been groat destruction of property throughout the city, and it is anticipated other outbreaks will take place.
