CROFTERS FOR NEW ZEALAND.
London, September 9.
Mr W. L. flees is organising a scheme of Crofter immigration to New Zealand. He proposes to establish five colonies, including in all 8000 souls, in different partß of Cook county oh the East Coast of the North Island, The requisite capital is estimated at half a million, of which the public will be asked to subscribe £150,000 and the Maoris £50,000. The Government will be asked to find the balance, or it will be raised by means of debentures. Mr Rees has requested the Agents-General to support thb Boheme for arranging a meeting of New Zealand colonists in London to consider the proposals. Wi Pare guarantees 2,000,000 acres of land in the North Island of New Zea land which can be obtained for colonisation purposes if the scheme proposed by Mr Rees meets with success. Wi Pere has delivered several lectures on Mr Rees's scheme for the colonisation of Native lands, and has met with success.
