TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

The regular monthly meeting of the Temuka Town Board was held last night. Present—Messrs Gray (Chairman), Blyth, E, Brown, and Coira. MINDTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was received— From the Secretary of the Temuka Fire Brigade, intimating that Messrs P. Coil a and J. Blyth had been nominated Fire Inspectors.—The appointments were confirmed. From the Treasury Department, Wellington, stating that the sum of £5 8s Bd, balance of subsidy due under the Local Bodies Powers and Finance Act had been remitted to the credit of the Board at the Bank of New Zealand. A resident wrote asking for information as to the duties of the nightsoil contractor. OVERSEER'S REPORT. The Overseer’s report for the month was read as follows; “ Gentlemen,—l have the honor to report that owing to the late heavy floods the Main South Road near the brewery was scoured out. This entailed repairs costing £5 8s 6d. The fence in front of the Town Board section to that adjoining Mr Quinn’s reserve needs repairs. The probable cost would be about £ —. The balance in Bank is £256 18s 7d. —I am, etc., “ Geo. Dyson.” TENDERS. The following tenders were opened and considered: — Contract No. 14—Carting shingle —C. Bateman, Is per yard (accepted). For leasing reserve No. 820—J. Davis, £4 lls per annum; P. Coira, £3 14s; D. Charteris, £3 3s. —The tender of J. Davis was accepted, conditional upon six months’ rent being paid in advance. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £35 10s lOd were passed for payment. THANKS, This being the final meeting of the Board, Mr Blyth moved a hearty vote of thanks to the Chairman for the very able manner in which he had filled the duties of his office for the past two years. Mr Coira seconded the motion, which was carried. Mr. Gray, in thanking the members for their kind expression of opinion, said that his duties had been made light to him by the courtesy and attention of his colleagues. The meeting then terminated.
