A section of the Canadian Press urge the Government to pursue a policy of iso'ation from the United States, white other journals advocate fraetrade. August 25. A parly of American fishermen at Lake Tobyne were attacked by Canadian fishermen, and in the course of the corfl ci an American woman was shot dead. August 26. The Government organ declares that it is unlikely a breach with America will ensue so long as iho Democrats are In power, Washington, August 25. i The President’s Message has been received wilh gnat enthusiasm in the Stales, and it is thought his action has completely dished the Republic n canddate’s chances for the Presffientd e'ection. August 25. Mr J. G. Blaine has issued a proc’a(nation denouncing in strong terms the message sent by President C evebnd to Congress.
