GERALDINE ROAD BOARD,

The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held at the Board’s office on Tuesday last. Present— Messrs W. Postleth Waite (Chairman), W. TJ. Slack, J. i£elland, and F. R. FJatman. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. TENDERS. Tenders were then opened and dealt with as follows; Contract No. 248—Formation and Shingling, Skinner’sEoad.—-R. O’Neil, £97 ;D. Gregan, £95; J. Mulvahill, £B4; P. Burke, £80; A. Raid, £79 10s; J. Beckley, £7O; J. Fiefield, £SB (accepted). Contract No. 244 Shingling road, Raukapuka Downs. —R. O’Neil, £109; R. Eae, £B3 17s 8d; A. Reid, £7B 10s (accepted); W- Hopkinson, £7B. Contract No. 245—Building groynes at Valley footbridge.-—W. Cronin, £l4 ; A. Best, £10; J. Mulvahill, £9; D. Grogan, £8 15s; B. Trumper, £8; E. Eae, £8; J. Beckley, £7 10s (accepted). CORRESPONDENCE, Correspondence was then read and dealt with as follows: From Mr J. H. Baker, Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christchurch, requesting information as to who were the ratepayers for sections Nos. 24, 193, 23, and 328. —It was decided to supply the information. From the Treasury, Wellington, informing the Board that it is the intention of the Government next financial year to cease making payments under the Crown and Native Lands Eating Act 1882. Rates would be paid as usual for the year ending March 31st, 1888, but no longer.—Bead. From Mr F. W. Stubbs, Clerk to the Geraldine County Council inform, ing the Board that 'their donation to the Charitable Aid Board, for the half-year ending March 31st, 1888, amounted to £ll7 2s, and requesting a cheque for the same.— Decided to forward the cheque. From Mr W. Val Miller, 0.E., Timaru, offering his services to the Board as civil engineer should they require such, and enclosing copy of credentials. —Read.

From Mr A. Maxwell, Junes’ Road, Opihi, requesting the Board to take a piece off the first angle and the top of the fourth angle, and the whole to be graded uniformly with the work being done on the road.—Decided that the suggestion could not be entertained.
