IRISH AFFAIRS.

London, Dec. 8. The Marquis of Ripon and Mr John Morley are about to visit Ireland. Dec. 9. The great meeting of Unionists was followed by a banquet which was held in Westminster yesterday, at which the Duke of Argyle, the Earl of Morley, and many other notables were present. The speeches dealt chiefly with the Irish question, but in the course of his speech the Marquis ef Hartington admitted that a certain amount of activity was being displayed by a section of the Conservative party in favor of fair trade, which might, be said, imperil the coalition at present existing between the two parties. The leaders of the Conservatives, however, his Lordship added, did not support the agitation, sod in any case Protection, if ever adopted, could be revoked, but Home Rule once granted could not. Mr Edward Harrington, M.P. for West Kerry, who was arrested last week on a charge of publishing reports of the doings of the National League in a newspaper called the Kerry Sentinel, has been sentenced to one month’s imprisomrv'nt. Dec. 10. Mr John Hopper, M.P. for South East Cork County, has been arrested for publishing reports of ths National League in the Cork Herald.
