At the Burnside Yards on Wedesday the following business was transacted Eat Cattle —241 head were yarded, of which, number about half were prime, with a few pens extra heavy weights, the balance ordinary to medium. Competition was lifeless, and prices throughout suffered *• decline on late values of about 20s pe* head. Best bullocks brought from £7los to £9 2s 6d; extra prime pens, up to £l3 ; medium, £4los to £7los; cows, £3 10s to £6 17s 6d.—Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold for Mr John Grigg (Longheach), 1 extra prime heavy weight ox at £l3, 1 do at £lO 12s 6d, and 8 steers at from £7 10s to £6 2s 6d; for Mr James Guild (Trevenna), 18 prime bullocks at from £8 10s to £7 10s. Fat Sheep fair proportion being prime wethers, the balance medium to ordinary. There was brisk competition, and a slight advance on last week’s values was noticeable. Best crossbred wethers brought 14s to 16s 3d, a few pens extra prime up to 18s 9d; others, 10a 6d to IBs 6d; shorn crossbred wethers, 9s to 12s; best crossbred ewes, 12s to 14s 6d; others 10s 6d to 12s; shorn do, 8s 4d to 10s 6d; merinos in wool, 11s 6d to 14s. Lambs—92o penned. Competition was not so brisk as at previous week’s sales, and rather lower prices were ruling. All forward found buyers at prices ranging from 3s 9d to 10s. — Reid, Maclean, and Co. sold for Mr Andrew Grant (Temuka) 41 at 8s 3d; for Waimate Estate, 50 at 7s 9d to 8s 6d.—Wright, Stephenson, and Co.sold for Mr F. M. Rickman (Waimate). 80 at from 9s to 7s 9d. Pigs—2l9 penned, representing all descriptions. Brisk competition was again experienced for suckers, stores, and porkers, but baconers did not meet with such a firm demand as of late. Baconers brought 32s to 61s ; porkers, 22s 6d to 335; stores, 14s to 325.
