CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS.

At the Addington yards on Wednesday, there were heavy entries of stock, and more than an average entry of buyers and others.

' Fat Cattle—A large entry. The demand was only fairly good, and values, were a shade easier than at last week’s market. Prime steers sold at from £7 10s to £9los per head ; light weight ditto, £5 15s to £6 15s ; heifers sold at from £3 17s 6d to £7 7s 6d ; fat cows, from £4 to £5 12s 6d ; the price of beef ranging from 17s to 21s per 1091 b, according as the quality varied. Store Cattle —Three-year-old steers sold at from £3 17s 6d to £4 15s per head ; two-year-old do, £2lss to £3 5s ; eighteen months to two-year-old steers, at from 35s to 42s ; ditto heifers, 27& to 30b ; yearlings, 16s to 20s per head. Dairy Stock—A large entry of fairly good quality, a poor demand shown, and little business doing. Fat Sheep—A good entry, shorn and in the wool in about equal proportions. Primest crossbreds sold at from 15s 6d to 17s per head ; medium weights, from 10s 6d to 12s 3d ; shorn wethers, from 8s to 12s 3d : merino wethers up to 33s 9d ; shorn merino wethers, from 7s to 8s 3d, being at from 2|d to 3d per lb for sheep in the wool, and up to 2d per lb for shorn. —Messrs Newton and Son sold for Mr Postlethwaite crossbred ewes at 15s, ditto 10* lOd to Us. Messrs Matson and Co. sold for Mr W. S. Armitago 74 mixed crossbreds (shorn) at 8s 6d, 35 at 7s lOd, 42 ewes at 8s 4d.

Fat Lambs—A good entry and a fair demand shown. Primest lambs sold at from 8s to 10s 6d : medium, 6s to 7s 6d per head. Store Sheep—A numerous entry and good demand. Hoggets in the wool sold at from 6s to 9a'. 8(1 per head; a line of shorn two-toochs at 4s 8d ; a line of twotooth crossbreds in the wool at 9s Id; another line at 8s 5d ; a line of crossbred ewes, mixed ages, with 80 per cent, of lambs at 8s lOd.

Pigs—A fairly good entry, moderate demand, sales made at late quoted rate*. Porkers sold at from 18s to 29s per head ; stores, from 8s to JSs,
