OVERSEER'S REPORT. ;v| The Overseer’s report was read and fe considered as follows : | “To the Chairman and Members. 'I “ Gentlemen,— l have the honor to re* ' port for the past month aa follows • Tenders have been called for the work authorised at last meeting, viz,, shingling part of Stewart’s road, formation Education reserve No. 140 f, enlarging Canal drain, and building bridge on road by Mr P. H. Barker’s. Tenders were invited for a team for one month to fill rnts, etc., but as no tenders were received I employed Mr H. Hu/len, who has now been working 6| days on the roads by the Qnlly Bush.—The contractor for shingle repairs has been employed repairing Paterson’s road. The work authorised at the Temuka footbridge has been carried out at an expenditure for labour of £l2 4s.— - Mr Ackroyd’s letter: The two holes ■; alluded to in Mr Ackroyd’s letter wre partly filled some time since, but as mare is no drainage at present they are very soft; they could be drained *t a coat of £—, including a six-inch pipe culvert in each, —Be Mr Davie’s application ; I have not yet been able to see Me Davie regarding bis application, but he has informed Mr Dyson that he is willing to give £5 towards making a good, approach to the river at Milford.— Be road applied for by Mr Gillicuddy and others ; I have been over this road, and have deferred sending any estimate to the School Commissioners until I had reported to you on the matter. The road would be a very expensive one to form ; it would cost at least £-5- per chain, and would then bo fit for light traffic only. When the works to be let to-day are completed every section of reserve No. 1400 will have road frontage available for traffic. It is, however, necessary to put a crosning over the Canal drain at its junction with the road in question, and four other crossings over drains and creeks that cross the road line. When this is done, and the sections fenced, stock may be taken along this road.—The roadway over the badge at Green Hayes is 18 feet wide ; to further widen it two more piles would be required, and the wings at one side would have to be taken up and rebuilt. This wou'd increase the cost by about £lB. The cost of labor for re-decking and fresh girders will be about £6. —I have, etc., “F. Archer.” *Mr Ackroyd’s and Mr Davie’s applies* cations were deferred for the present. It was ogreed to erect the crossings as suggested by the Overseer aa they might be required. It was decided to redeck and repair’yno bridge by Green Hayes, but not to witlea if. Tbs Board then rose,
