ORARI BRIDGE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The usual monthly meeting of the members of this Committee was held in the schoolhouse on Saturday evening last. Present —Messrs G. Helem, W. Hewson, and L Grant. Mr Grant was voted to the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The following corresponden e was read and dealt with : From the S.C. Board of v Education informing the Committee that the Board could not recoup them any moneys spent without the authority of the Board. From the same, informing the Committee that they were willing to' consider the application from the school re classroom, and requesting the Committee to state how much' they were prepared to contribute towards the same.—lt was resolved to.let the letter remain in abeyance till a future meeting of the Committee. From the same, conveying the

names of Messrs R. H. Pearpoint and J. Brown, nominated to fill the vacancies on the Board caused by the resignation of Dr Foster, and informing the Committee that the election would take place on the 6th October.—The Committee decided to record their vote in favor of 11. H. Pearpoint. The master's report for the month showed the numb r on roll to heBoys, 25 ; girls, 24 i total, 49; with an average attendance of 41.8. A cheque for £1 7s, being the proceeds from the sale of books during the month, was enclosed. The master (Mr Steven) also promised a subscription of £1 towards the proposed class-room. The offer was accepted with thanks. Mr Steven submitted a statement of moneys received and expended in connection with the prizes and treat and sports for the children. _' The treat was held about the beginning of the year and the statement was as follows:—Amounts received, £lO 8 s 3d; expended, £9 14s 6d;. balance to credit, 13s 9d. The report was approved of. Mr Hewson was appointed visitor for the month, and the meeting terminated.
