It is slated that several gentlemen residing at Auckland have received letters from Borsboom, who was arrested in Sydney for the alleged murder of his wife, asking ibem to give him a character, as he thinks it will be something in his favor at his approaching trial. i The Albion boarding-house, Auckland, in which a fire broke out on Sunday morning, was insured for £4OO in the United Office. The two hydromatic disappearing guns lately procured by tbe Government, and erected at Fort Takapuna, were tested on Saturday in tbe presence of Colonel Boddain and others, and worked with complete success. A supplement to the Gazette, issued on Monday night, contains the names of the Registrars of Electors and Returning Officers for all the electoral districts in the colony.
