THE FRENCH CRISIS.
Paris, May 18. In thp French Uhamber of Deputies a tote of confidence in the Government wasi,defeated by 275 against 257. A resolution of the; Budget Committee in favor of a reduction in the expenses was carried by 312 to 142. M. Goblet's Ministry hat resigned. Later. It is expected that the Ministerial crisis which has arisen will be prolonged some lime, and that either M. de Frejcinet or M, de Clemenceau wilj bo appointed Premier vm M, Goblet, The chief difficulty to be surmounted is the question of the retention of General Boulanger in the position of Minister of War, he being very popular both with the army and the country, but is distrusted by tbe German Government.
