GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday evening. Present— Messrs B. H. Pearpoint (Chairman), W. S. Itailin, B. Tajlor, J. A. Quinn, W. Berry, and J. Mundell. MIHTTTIS. The minutes of the previous meeting were t ead and confirmed, IXMAKATIOK. The Chairman explained why Mir Hamersley had been retained in the oaies heard in the B.M. Court under the new by-laws. The explanation was deemed satisfactory. CORBHSPONDBNOH. Outward correspondence was read and approved of. loward was read as follows : From Mr T. Richards, asking for a month's •xtension of time to allow of his completing his contract tor fencing the Raukapuka Bmh.—47he request was granted. From the Geraldine County Council, notifying the Board that their yearly ao» counts must be forwarded to the Gounoil on or before the 14th inst. for transmission to the Colonial Treasurer.

Tripp, calling the attention of the Board to a case for their consideration which oame under the Destitute Persons Relief Act.—The Clerk was inßtruoted to inform Mr Tripp that the application should b« made to the Geraldine Road Board, as the parties referred to resided in that district. Mr Maslin drew the attention of the Board to the fact that the fee of £2 for the transfer of licensee of the Grown Hotel from Mr T. Farrell to Mr R. Johnston had been paid to the Geraldine County Oounoil instead of to the Board.—lt waß resolved to write to the Geraldine County Oounoil asking for a refund of the transfer fee, Farrell to Johnston, amounting to &i. DnraOTIVH OHIMHKY. It was decided that Mr J. Burk be again •sea with regard to his ohimney being dangerous, and if it were not taken down within one week that ho be proceeded against under the by-laws. BENTS IK ABRHARg. Some disonssion took plaoe with regard to arroais of rent for reserves, and the Clerk was instructed to report at every monthly meeting all amounts of rent in areata. EBHOING THE BESBUTH. It was decided to inform Mr Eiohards, the contractor for fenoing the bush, that all posts oondemned are to be plaoed with the firewood. The matter of progress payments to the contractor for fenoing the bush reserve was left to the Finance Committee to deal with. No payment to be made till after the books are audited on the 14th inst. BBSEBVBB. On the motion of Mr Quinn, seconded by Mr Mundeli, it was resolved to oall for tenders for certain reserves} tenders to be in by the 14 to insti It was resolved that the Chairman take the seoassary steps to have all the leases of the reserves registered. BUILDmO KEGUIATIOOT. The Board's attention having been drawn to the size of the verandah posts ereoted by one of the tradesmen in the town, the Over* seer was instructed that in future all verandah posts should be not less than 6 z 5. overseer's report. The Overseer's report was read ai follows : 41 Since your last ordinary meeting very little has|been done beyond keeping the water-channels clean in every part of the district, only one of the old men being employed. The Board are doubtless aware that J. Brown is employed by the day to plotter the kerbing for a portion of the distanee, with Frnde to serve him with mortar and get the ground out. The roads throughout are in a very fair condition.— I I would recommend that all horse-posts on the inner edge of the footpath be painted white, so that they may be more easily seen than at present. —During the month there have been eight dogs registered, bnt there are a number still unregistered. Some steps should be taken in this matter.—The reoeipts < far the month have been as follow : Asphalt aeoounts, £lolss 3d; rents, £1 2s 6d; dog fees, £8 12s; total, £ls 93 9d.—Application should be made to the proprietors of build- ! ings used for entertainments to have the same licensed as suoh. "C. E. Shebbatt, " Clerk and Overseer." It was decided that all hone-posts in the township should be painted white; Mr Dnnloptobe notified to pay bis slaughterhouse fee at onoe. The Clerk was instructed to take steps whereby all public places for amusement be duly lioensed ; aho to sue all persons having unregistered dogs. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £2B 12s 6d were passed for payment, and the Board resolved itself into a Looax Boabd Of Health. The Inspector of Nuisances' report was read, there being nothing for the Board to take aotion upon. The Board then met as a Domain Boabd. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed, it was decided to call for tenders for the purohase of the mixed firewood in the bush reserve. It was proposed by Mr Maslin, seoonded by Mr Mundeli, and oarried—" That this Board apply to the Town Board for the loan of £l4O, at 6 per oent." The Clerk was instructed to tee what gates, etc, are required in the park, and report at the next meeting. This being all the business, the meeting ; terminated.
