TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Tetnuka Town Board was held last evening. Present Meßsrs Gray (Chairman), Mason, Brown, Coira and Blytb. MINDTEB. Correspondence was read From the Ger&ldipe (Joqnty Council to the effect that the Council intended to strike ante to wipe off its debt, and suggesting that the Board would aaye by including this rate with its own, as one collection would do.—On the motion of Mr Brown, seconded by Mr Maeon, it was resolved.—« That the Board does not intend to strike a rate for the year 1887-88 until but if that is convenient for the Council they are quitb willing to post notices with the Board's notices and collect the same, provided the Council find the notices and receipt forms." To the Chairman and Commissioners Temuka Town Board. fIBHTIBKBH, —I have the honor to report that; since last Board day one man has been employed 26 days cleaning water-tables, out' ing thistles, and spreading clay on footbpata in Main South Road from Wood street to Ewen Boad, and one man with horse and dra/ cleaning rubbiih from streets ; also, as the Board decided, I l*t to W, Lewis the carl ing of clay for footpath, 25 yards at Is per yard. All the water-tables are attended to now with the axception of a few days' woik at the northern boundary of Main South road, whioh I should recommend being done at once. Acoording to section 27 of the Town District Act 1881 Amendment, it is noceasary that t'ie Treasurer prepare and •end to the Board a yearly balancs-sheet; also a itatement of assets and liabilities for the year ending March 31st., 1887, together with a statement of the reserve? and other real property belonging to the Town Board, showing the terms, conditio?.s, and rents for ■which any parts thereof are let on leuse or otherwise, and the amount of the rents in arrears in eaoh esse, and thj Board shall in the month of May hold a special nsaeting for considering anch balanee-shertt and settling the same, and when so settled the Chairman shall sign the bal »nce-sheet so settled, and the Board shall cause such balunce-sheefc and detailed statement of accounts to be published or posted in some public place for the information of the ratepayers. The balance-sheet , and statement of reserves 1 lay before you, wbioh shows that the balance is about £6O leas than last year. That can be accounted for by the concrete kerbing lately done, and also the heavy expenses of the Fire Brigade uniforms and new bell. The balance in bank last Board day was £7O lis, and after paying last month's accounts, and money collected for rates and dog collars, thare is a balanoe of £94 7s 7d.—l have, etc., Ghobgb Dtsow, Clerk to the Board. The report was adopted. INSPECTOR O? NUISANCES' RBFORT. The Inspector of Nuisances' report was read as follows : To the Chairman and Commissioners. Gbhtlbmbn, —I have the honor to report as Inspector of Nuisances for last month that I heard no complaints, and the sanitary condition of the town is very good.—l have, etc, Gbobgb Dyson, Inspector of Nuisances. ICOODNTS. Accounts to the amount of £2O 9s 9d were passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned.
