GERALDINE LITERARY INSTITUTE COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of this Committee was held in the Library on Monday evening. Present Messrs J. Cunningham (in ihe chair), J. Mundell, R, H. Pearpoint. J. B. Waite, H. B. Webster, C. E. Sherratt, and the Treasurer and Secretary. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was then read as follows From Mr T, G. Cork, Timaru, calling the attention of the Committee to the book “ Heroes of the Maori War,” for which he was agent, and offering to supply the Committee with a copy for £2 2s.—The Committee decided they were not in a position to purchase the book at present. From the Secretary of the Educational Department, Wellington, advising the Committee that the sum of £l3 12s sd, the amount of Government subsidy, had been passed to the Treasury. PATE OF MEETING. It was decided to hold the monthly meetings on the second Wednesday in each month. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £7 3s 6d wore passed for payment. THE LIBRARIAN. It was decided to give the Librarian (Mrs Boswell) a bonus of £2 2s for the excellent manner in which she had attended to her duties during the past year. It was aiso decided to request her to gum in any leaves found loose in the books as they cams in. REPAIRS. Messrs Pearpoint, Sherratt, and the Secretary were appointed a Committee to see to some trifling repairs necessary to be done to the Library buildings. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the meeting.
