AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.
A meeting of' the Arowhenaa Tewn Board was held last erening, Present Messrs Lee (Chairman), Story, Edgeler, Proadlbck, and Austin. The minutes of the previous meeting were, read and confirmed,, r( , . A letter was read! from Mr J, H. Baker intimating that h* would attire in Temnka by the' express Jfttira on Wednesday, and asking the members of the.Boardlo meet him for the purpose of considering what be set apart as endowments for, the Town District of Arowhenaa. JMeasts Lee, Story, and Edgeler were appointed a Committee to meet Mr Baker in the Temika Town Board's office; >■ i
~.. The rate roll was then signed, the roll showed i)b»t the total valuation of the : Town District was £1 9,201 j which, at one halfpenny in the l £, yields Jan an* ; noal revenue of 2£40, ' j ■ ;
/ ( the Ttmaka Road Board had reserves to the value of L4OO, if not more,,and he thotlght the Town Board had a right to a shara ot th'eri.' Their ehingle reserves were very valuable. : The Road Board were Mr ;Bf*v'ti«rrfi t ßixjMncr*per load for shingle'; that wa|i , r .i2.Ss acre. The Road Board had right ,tp make a claim for MatrdjStreet bridge ; in faot, "Arowbenua had been a milch cow to the Koad fi ßoafd all along, and they were now burking" the !i k'rbwhehua Town Board in getting their money from Government. The Road Board were trying to do their best to make out a case against the Arowhenna Board, and it was the duty of the Arowhenua To#n Boardlto make.the,fhe|t|!aße they could'against the Road Board, There was. nothing for it bat to let the whole matter go to arbitration, < > 5,*,,.' After along talk on the subject the meeting was adjourned to that day weak.
