FOUND DROWNED.

About 6 o'clock last Tuesday night, Ann O'Brion, aliaa Kelliher, Who, it will be recollected, was sentenced at Temuka to seven days' imprisonment last week for vagrancy, passed through Temuka, avowedly on her way to Christcburcb. She arrived at the Winchester Hotel about 9 o'clock and stayed there ■till the following morning, when she left at 7.30, haying had breakfast. She arrived at Mr Brad I y's Orari Hotel about 10 o'clock. Here Bhe partook of refreshments, and again left on her journey. Shortly after she wae seen by a lad named Henry Coles, when she was sitting on the bank of the Orari River, near the bridge. Nothing more is known of her doings, but about half-past 12 o'clock her body was found by Coles about 200 yards from where he first saw her. He gave the alarm and Mr Breadley quicklj got the body out and took it to his Hotel. Life was then quite extinct. Her boots, waterproof cloak, and a handbag are missing. It is surmised that the poor woman was drowned while attempting to cross the river, which is high, and that the articles lost were carried down the stream. Constable Gunrin searched for them, but unsuccessfully, The Coroner has been communicated with and probably an inquest will be held to-day.
