THE GREAT BARRIER MURDER.

Auckland, Oct. 27. j The steamer Waihora, having on board Caffrey, Penn, and the girl Graham, charged 'as murderers and aocessory to the Jreat Barrier tragedy, arrived at 11 o'clock this morning. There was a considerable crowd on the wharf, including Penn's father, who shouted to the prisoner, "Nevermind, my boy, we've got Nap.ier to defend you." The hoodlums in the crowd applauded Penn, who manifested a bold, defiant,'and jaunty air, while Caffrey seemed cold and spiritless. The , male prisoners were heavily manacled, leg-irons being rivetted on. The girl Graham, alleges that Penn did not hold Taylor while Caffrey fired the revolver. She stateß Caffrey drank a whole bott'e of rum before going ashore at Great Barrier, and attributes the murder to his being drunk. During the voyage in the Sovereign of the Seas they ran short of water, and suffered greatly from thirst, but Caffrey says "Providence sent rain," which they caught in buckets, etc. During f,hat time Graham wore male attire, and Penn nevor went to bed without saying prayers. Caffrey, Penn, and Sarah Oleary, alias Grace Graham, were afterwards brought up at the Police Court before Mr H. P. Seth Smith, R.M., the two former charged with the wilful murder 6f Robert Taylor, and the girl Graham with being an accessory after the fact, All three prisoners were remanded till Friday week. Mr Brassay, on behalf of Taylor's family, has laid a separate information for murder, which may cause a complication. {
