WOODBURY SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A*special meeting of tbs Woodbury School Committee was held on Monday, August 80th. Present Messrs J. Dean (Chairman), P. R, Platman, Scott, Heatley, and Middleraisf. LECTURE AN* CONCERT. , A letter was received from the Rev. G. Barclay expressing his willingness to deliver a lecture for the benefit of the pries fund of the school, The subject of the lecture would bs “ Constitutional Progress.” A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the rev. gentleman for bis kindness, and the Chairman was authorised to convey to him the thanks of the Committee. It was resolved to augment the lecture by a number of musical selections, the entertainment to take place in the schoolroom on Tuesday, the 14th instant, at 7.30 p.m. ; the price of admission to be 2s for adults, children who do not attend the school Is, and children who attend the school 6d each, On the proposition of Mr Middlemiss, seconded by Mr Bcott, the following were elected a Committee of Management : Messrs Dean, Platman, Hentley, and Greaves. Messrs Middleraisa an I ScoU were deputed to act as doorke- peiH on the night of the entertainm nt. It was also decided to give the clii.'iren a half holiday on the afternoon of th • same date. It was also decid d to advertise the lecture and concert n the local paper, such advertisement, to appear four times. MISCELLANEOUS. Mr Platman stated he had not been able to carry out bis duties as visitor during the month in consequence of the heavy- fall of snow, as he could not get to the school. He would, however, visit the school during the ensuing month. There being no correspondence before the Committee it wae resolved not to hold the monthly meeting on the usual date. After passing one small account for payment the meeting terminated with a yote of thanks to the Chairman.
