Mr E. G. Staveley (for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company) reports on the Ashburton stock sales on Tuesday as follows One thousand sheep and a few cattle and pigs were yarded. The attendance was small, and business slack. Mixed ages crossbred ewes, in lamb, made 78 9d ; aged and poor ditto, 5s ; aged merino ditto, in low condition, 3s; small crossbred iambs, 3s 9d to 4s 6d. No fat sheep were sold. Bacon pigs brought 2ls, A few cattle sold at current values.
