TIMARU MARKET REPORT. The New Zealand Lean and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report as follows: Wheat—A fair amount of local business has been dene during the past fortnight. Our mills are still working day and night, and stocks are being rapidly reduced. Holders of prime milling wheat* are Arm at quotation. For seed reqairemente, a eonnderable amount of Tuscan and Velvet have changed hands at 4s 6d to 4e Mei store. Exports have been oil a limited scale, as our prices are wither higher than those o i outside markets. Fowl * heat la in good demand; and ia now difficult to obtain. We quote prime milling samples at—Red Chaff 4« 4d, Tuscan 4s 6 d, Velvet 4s Td. Fowl wheat (whole), 3s 6d to Ss 9d ; do, (broken) 9a 3d per bushel, f.e.b,, Timaru. Sacks, 6|d each. At these prices we have placed several lines. (Forax-store quotation deduct Id). Barley— Transactions in barley have been email. Sydney, which has hitherto offered a good market to our malsters, this year, owing to large supplies of English malt, offer* no inducemenent to shippers ; in fact, late ad vices report the markets as glutted, and prices falling. Quotations are merely nominal, at 2s 9d to 2slod for malting, and 2s 2d to 2s 3d for feed sorts, f.0.b., sacks each. Oats A brisk demand has eharao'erised the market for this cereal during the paat fortnight, but buyers are not prepared, to give the fancy prices asked by farmers. A number of holders are storing in anticipation of higher rates ruling in Adelaide and Melbourne in a short time. Present quotations are—Bright heavy milling, 2s 4d to 2s 6<i; stout feed, 2s 3d to 2s 4d ; bright Danish, 2s td to 2« 3i ; discolored do, 2s to 2s 2d, f.o.b. sacks, extra. Flour—Our patent roller flour is still in good demand, and our mills have to work full time to supply orders. Quotatations are— Sacks, £l2 per'ton, 100 s ; £l2 10s. per ton 60s, ; £l2 15s per ton, f.o.b. Bran—Orders are equal to the quantity the mills can turn out, and quotations are firm at £6, f.o.b. ' Pollard—Present price ia £6 sa, f.o.b. Potatoes are worth |ss to 645, f.0.b,, bags iq. Sheepskins—At our usual fortnightly sale, held on Wednesday last, an average catalogue oarae forward, a full attendance of buyers of tie trade being present. Biddings were for every lot spirited, resulting in a slight advance on last sale. Oqr offering made the following prices; Factory skins, crossbreds, 4a 3L 4» 4 : L and 4s 6d, the latter ijgqre, top price of the day, befog obtained for Mr A. L. Barker's Winchester consignment. Best butchers crossbreads, 3s 91, 4s 2d, 4s 4d to 4s 5d ; second quality, Is, Is 4<i to Is 9d. Country lots, from Is Qd to 4% according to size and quality. Hides—The market remains steady. Quotations $ Best dry, over 601b*, 3Jd to 4i; light and inferior, 3d to 34d per ib ; cut and slippery, 2d. At the above prices we have quitted oyer 77* Tallow and Fat—All on hand sold at the following quotations ; Rough 8t 6d to 9s 9d per owt. Cattle Fat are still in plentiful supply. Quotations are steady at late rates, viz: 20s per IOOIba for prime quality and 17s 6a for medium. Sheep—Mutton may be quoted at l|d to 2d for extra quality, with plenty offering. At the South Canterbury Varda, Wash-: dyke, oq Thursday 29th, about the usual eixtry catqo forward ; Crossbreds, from fair to medium quality,'were the principal yardings.
