WAR IN THE SOUDAN.

Souakim, April 7. A forward movement in the direction of Handoub commenced to-day. The Scots Greys escorted a large convoy to the zareeba which has been formed on the way to Handoub, and will remain to garrison the ,zareeba with the Coldstream Guards and Colonial contingent who are already there. Sir Uerald Graham and members of his stuff will accompany the troops to Handoub tomorrow, and the former will return to Souakim in the evening. Spies who came in from Tamai assert that the tjos'tion has been deserted by Osman fr{gna and the village has been burned. April 8.

The enemy appeared in the vicinity of the headquarters of the camp this morning at an early hour and fired about a hundred shots into the British lines. The fire, however, was ineffectual and no casualties occurred to the troops in camp.
