TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Temuka Town Board was held last night. Present —Messrs Gray (Chairman), Brown, Blyth, and Mason.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

* A letter was read from the Fire Brigade aiking for the loan of £ls 6s, to pay for the new hose reel, until the Brigade got the money fromthe Insurance Companies, —The request was granted. In reply to a question, the Overseer stated that he had given notice to Messrs Windebank and Storey with regard to the crossings in Commerce street, but that nothing had been done, —Mr Blyth proposed, Mr Brown seconded, and it was carried—“ That the Clerk write officially to Messrs Windebank and Storey, to the effect that unless they comply with the request made by the Overseer, the Board will take the work in hand and charge them with the cost of it,”

On the suggestion of Mr Brown, it was decided to have the new concrete channel in Commerce street cleaned out. In the course of conversation it appeared that a large number of persons had not yet paid their rates, and it was resolved that they should be sued at once. The Overseer’s report wiis to the effect that the side channels of the Main South Road had been ploughed up, and in a few days the rubbish would be carted away. Wood, Dyson, and High streets were also completed with the exception of filling up low places. Accounts to the amount of £4l lls 3d were passed for payment, and the meet: i eg then adjourned,
