CRICKET.
GrERALDINE y. ASH BURTON
A match between the Geraldine and Ash burton Club came of! on the ground of the former on Monday. The day was anything but favorable for cricket, a cold, raw wind making it veiy unpleasant for the men in the field, For the home team Lioelge, Pearpoint, Moore, and Templar showed yery good form with the bat, each getting into double figures, and for the visitors Wilding, Wroughton, and, Andrews did good service. \¥"hen the home team went in tot their second inuings the ground had become very much cut ud, which was very much in favor of the bowlers, and will accoiint for. the small score. As time would not permit of thn match being played out it was decided on the first innings, resulting in a victory for the visitors by two tuns. Dr ij'ish umpired for geraldine and Mr J.

The proposed, match between the married and single members of the Geraldine Cricket Club has twice fallen through owing to a sufficient number of players not turning up to form a game. The members of the club have, so far, taken very little interest in these practice matches. It is to be hoped that, if they wish to uphold the honors of their Club against those clubs with which matches have .been arranged they will see the necessity of going in for plenty of practice. The match, Married v. Single, is arranged for next Saturday, and it is fo be hoped that it will not again fall through.
