CHRISTCHURCH CORIN EXCHANGE. The Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, the 18th inst : Grain and produce during the week has continued in the depressed state that has been the distinguishing feature of this market for the last month. There is a slightly brisker inquiry for good sound milling wheat at former quotations, but, confined principally to local requirements. Oats have considerably slackened in demand, with no immediate prospect of recovering. Barley, for malting, is not coming to hand as freely as could be desired, there being still room for a few choice lo+s to be placed. Beans and peas remain in the same state as last week, as well as potatoes and dairy produce. Ryegrass is beginning to meet with some little inquiry. Quotations are as follows Wheat—Sound dry Tuscan, 3s 4d ; Pearl, 3s 3d ; Hunter’s white, 3s 2d ; slightly damp and seconds, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; chick wheat, Is 9a to 2s. Oats —Prime milling, 2s 3d ; bright short feed, 2a 2d inferior sorts, Is 8d to 2s. Barley—Best bright malting, 4s ; second quality, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; feed, 2s to 2s 2d. p ea g—Prussian blues, 3s 3d to 3s fid ; other sorts, feeding, 2s 9d to 3s. Beans— 2s fid to 2s 9d ; hand threshed, 3s. Ryegrass Seed—Good farmers parcels, 3s fid ; machine dressed, 4s. Potatoes—2Bs to 30s at country station, within 12 miles. Butter and Cheese—7d to Shd for the former ; the latter, 4d to sd. The above quotations, with the exception of barley and potatoes, are the prices paid to farmers when delivered f.o.b. at Lyttelton. DUNEDIN MARKETS. Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co, report for the week ending July 16 as follows : Grain—Wheat ; There is a good demand for prime samples, particularly of velvet and Tuscan, which we quote at 3s 3d to 3s 5d ; red straw, 3s Id to 3s 3d ; medium, 2s 9d to 3s ; fowls’ feed, Is fid to 2s fid. Oats at last quotations, ns follows ; Heavy bright milling, 2s Id to 2s l-gd ; bright feed, 2s to 2s colored, Is lOd to Is lid ; Danish, Is 9d to la lOd. Barley : Best samples are inquired for at 4s to 4s Id ; medium may be quoted at 3s fid to 3s 9d, bags extra ; milling, 2s 9d to 3s. Mr L. Maclean, under arrangements with the British and New Zealand Mortgage ard Agency Company (Limited), reports for the week ended July 16 as follows : Fat Cattle. —On account of Mr Wrn. Grant (South Canterbury), 11 bullocks at from £6 37s fid to £8 5s ; from Mr A. Grant (Temuka), 51 head at for bullocks up to £8 12a fid, cows and heifers up to £8 7s fid. I quote _ really prime beef at 22s 6d to 26s ; medium, 21s.

Fat Sheep.— I hc.H, on account of the New Zealand ami Australian Land Company (Tofara), 150 prime cross-bred ewes at from 17s 6d 10 18s Cd (topping the market for crossbreds) ; on account of Messrs A. Peat and Sons (Mount Cowrie), 251 merinos at from 7s 9d to 8s 3d, 60 crossbreds at from 11s to 24s 6d ; and quote prime mutton at per lb.
