NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE MARKETS.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report on the produce markets of New Zealand under date the 17th inst., as follows _ Wool.—Priced catalogues, giving the result of the colonial wool sales in London to 21st May, have been received, and it is gratifying to note that a material advance lias been established on all descriptions of crossbred wools. Good strong combing merinos displayed a slight enhancement in values, but finest and faulty merinos, lambs and scoured parcels of all descriptions barely maintained the rates current at the close of the March series. Advices generally indicate a healthy state of trade in the manufacturing districts, with a decided improvement fu tlic demand for lustre The outlook for the coming series, opening on the 12th August, is promising ; and it is devontlj 7 to be hoped that the muchdreaded cholera may bo stamped out in the meantime ; for should it continue to spread, the check to trade will be palpable. Dunedin, —Wheat : There has been ft moderate demand, and a considerable amount of business has passed during the month, both in milling and shipping. Holders realising the position, have been more disposed to quit, aud all offered iu condition lias been taken up at about last month’s quotations. There is a largo quantity in store out of condition, which can only bo used for feed ; the quantity remaining in agents’ hands, in milling condition, is trifling. Oats ; The dullness which set in at the date of onr last report has not passed away, and stocks since then have not diminished. The only demand existing now is not for short bright sorts, but the market is not overstocked with these, and prices show no decline. Discolored, although good for feed, are neglected ; holders, however, are not pushing sales, and prices remain unaltered. Barley—During the last month a fair business has been done with malslers, but they are all well supplied at the moment. Bright plump samples could still be placed at from 4s Id to 4s 2d ex store , milling is occasionally placed at from 2s 3d to 2s 9d ; feed is not in much request. Timaru — Wheat : The market is dull and sales are difficult to effect. A large quantity of slightly soft wheat is on hand and what to do with it is the question now before owners. The wheat would be first-class if dried, but as there are no kilns or other appliances available for this purpose, it must be disposed of locally, as it will not stand the long voyage to England. Exports for the past month amount to about 16,000 sacks, shipped coastwise and foreign. The Deva for London will sail during the present month with 9000 to 10;000 sacks. Oats—The supply is ample and late are maintained for good qualities. 58-3 sacks were exported during the past month. Three vessels are now 7 loading for Australian ports, which will further tend to reduce stocks. Barley —Little or no business is doing in this cereal, and prices remain as last quoted. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, July 17. The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand reports upon the local grain market as follows : Shipping wheat is dull and drooping at 3s lOd to 3s lid ; malting barley is depressed, with rather more enquiry, quotations being 4s to 4s 6d ; New Zealand oats, feeding, prices are in favor of buyers at 2s lOd to 3s Id ; milling in fair demand at 3s Id to 3s 2d ; New Zealand oats, under bond, are weaker at 2s 2d to 2s 7d. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, July 16. Adelaide wheat has advanced to 40s 6d, and New Zealand ditto is quoted at 34s to 40s 6d. Adelaide flour, ex store, is worth 28s.
