A GIGANTIC RAILROAD PROJECT.
At the present time a gigantic railroad project is contemplated in xvussie., and the Czar takes the liveliest interest in tba matter. In view of the immense benefit accruing in agriculture) .ud commerce through the completion of the natwork of railroad* in the United Stales, the Russian Government and capitalists have been encou'?««d to undertake a similar work for their latge ceuutry. Tus project is nothing lee 3 than a Russian pacific Railroad. The road in length will aggregate 11,700 English mile*, and the cost is estimated at 1,000,000,000 roubles. It is judged (hat thii stupendous work will ■ ake (wenty years io complete. It is pro. posed that during times of peace the soldiers of the empire) shall be employed in the construction of the road. The Czar has decided to appoint a commission for the purpose of investigating the project.
