AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS,

GERALDINB. Messrs J. Mundell and Co, repoit sales for the week ending Saturday, 7th June, 1884 : At the Geraldine monthly gala of stock on Wednesday last there was a largo entry of slock came to hand, tho chief feature of the sale being sheep, which were the best quality yarded for several mon-hs. During the last monih we are compelled to record a considerable falling off in values, especially sdieep, which have dropped ac least Is ptr brad. The totals yarded for the day's sale *»!'• 1141 Bleep, 7(5 head of caitla and 9 pig*. Sales were effected at the following prices—2-toof.h crossbred sheep, from lis lid to 14s 3d ; crossbred ewes, fat, 14s lid ; merino ewes, in lamb, passed in at 4s 9d ; crossbred lambs passed in at 7s M ; 3-year-old stoera, in forward condition, sold at £6 ; cows, close on calving, at £4 I7s 6d ; 2-year-old steeds, in low condi;ion, sold at £1 lOs ; pi;*s, weaners, passed in at 9s 6d. At Winchester Fair on Thursday there was a laige entry of stock yarded, but a complete disinclination was shown on the part of those • present to purchase. Of our entry we disposed of 41 crossbred sheep atlOs sd, 81 merino ewes at3s sd, 7 lOs, 10 yearlings at £1 3=". On Saturday we submitted to auction on account of he Ceraldine Jockey Club the privileges on the course, at the forthcoming Steeplechase meeting. The booths not reaching tho Club's. r*serve were passed in. but were disposed of privately (o Mr S. Bradley, of Orari Hotel. Ihe ' gates were sold to Mr M. E. Heatley for j £33 and the rights of games to Mr George I Fox for £2 7s Gd.

TIMARTJ. ; Messrs Maclean and Stewart report i for the past week ending Saturday as follows : I Horses—About 45 draught, light harness horses, and unbroken colts and fillies and hacks were to-day boaked at their yards for sale. They' have to report a dull demand, and though about on* half of their entry found buyers, this was only on account of the absence of any reserve being placed on a number of the lots,-and in consequence buyers were induced to speculate, getting fair good draughts at a long wav below their value. They to-day sold good draughts from £IS to £22 ; medium sorts, £l4 to £18; unbroken colts and fillies from £lO to £ls ; ordinary and inferior hacks, £6 to £l2. Sheep —There has not been much business done during the week in store «heep, owners prefering at present to hold on rather than accept the reduced pnces. At their usual fortnightly sole, held at the Washdyke on Tuesday the 3rd instant, an I average entry was received. They sold L 500 merino ewes at from 4a 6d to 4s lOd ;

Cattle—A good many odd lots were entered for side on Tuesday last at the W.shdyke yards. They sold 23 well forward steeta end heifer* »t from £2 to £4 17s 6d; ce*s from £2 12s 6d to £6 17s 6d. On Thursday, at Winchester Fair, they sold 40 one-year and 18 months old steers and heifer* at 40s. Fat cattle —They quote beef at from 15s to 17s 6d per 1001 b. At their monthly sale at Studholme Junction last Monday they sold 10 ateers and heifer* at these quotations. At Washdyke on Tuesday they sold a few head else at these prices. Sheepskins, Tallow and Hides. They held their usual fortnightly sale latt Wednesday, when thfcy cleared out all the lots at the following prices : Fullwoolled merine and crossbreda, from 2a 8d to 3s 5d ; medium lots, from 2s to 2s 6d : pelts, 6d to Is ; titlow from 2d to 2§d ; hides, 3d to 3£d per lb. DTTNEDIN. Mr L. Maclean, under arrang*rrients with the British and New Zealand Mortgage ar.d Agency Company (Limited), reports for the week faded June 4 m follows : Fat Cattle,—24o head were yarded for to-day's market, consisting of about 70 head really good quality and heavy we if ht bullocks, the balance medium and inferior. Best bullocks brought from L 7 10.3 to L 9 10a ; others from L 5 to L 7 ; best cows from L 6 to L 8 7» 6d ; othera up to L 5. I sold on recount of M, Quinn, Ksq. (South Canterbury), 18 really prime nt from L7Sito L 9 7s 6d. I quote prime beef at 20s per 1001 b ; medium, 17s. Fat Calves-From 7* to 425. Fat Sheep.—For to-day't market 2717 were penned-400 merinos, the balance crossbreda, »H of which with the exception ot a few pens were good to prime quality. Prices suffered a decline of about Is per head. Best crossbr&ds brought from 14s to 17 3d ; the latter price wee obtained for t. Bmall lot exceptionally heavy weights ; others, 12a to 13s 6d ; merinos, 8a 3d to 13s. I sold, on account of M. Quinn, Esq., 120 crossbreda at from 14s 3d to 15s 6d. I quota prime mutton at 2M per lb. Fat Lambs.—From 8s 6d to 9a 6d. Pigs .-Suckers, 7* 9d to 25s ; porksrs, 28s to 40a; bacon pigs, 45s to 71*. Store Cattle.—At present there is t fair demand for forward conditional bullocks for turnip-feeding, and any lota offering are easily placed. Sheepskins. Green crossbreda from 2s 7d to 3« ; do merino, 2s 3d to 2a 8d ; lambakins, 2s 7d ; dry skins, la 8d to 2a 8d ; in baits, 4sd per lb. Grain.—The wheat market still remains in a very unratisfactory state, the only sales taking place bt ; ng for immediate use. and only in small quantities. I quote prime milling, 3s 9d ; ordinary, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; fowl wheat, 2s to 2a 9d. Sales for the week 2600 bushels. Oats : There is still a good demand for brijht samples of milling and feed, several good lines having beeu taken during the week for shipment. Quotations Bright milling, 2s 2d ; bright feed, 2s Id to 2a l£d ; discoloured, Is lOd to Is lid. at which prices I have placed over 6000 bushels. Barley : No sales to report; quotations unaltered. The above quotations *r« with bags weighed in. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Adelaide, Juno 6. Wheat is quoted at 3s lid to 4s ; flour, town brands, £9 5s to £9 10s ; country ditto, £8 53 to £8 10s- The markets for wheat and flour are quiet. Sydney, June 6. New Zealand wheat per bushel ie worth 4a ; New Zealand oats, 2s 9d; Maize, 4s Id; Sugar Company's 1 No. 1 pieces per ton, £34. ENGLISH MARKETS. Lohdoit, Juie 5. Colonial breadstuff? remain dull, and prices aru unchanged at 'the following quotations, tx granary : Adelaide wheat, 41s ; New Zealand, 36s to 40s Adelaide flonr, 283. Tallow— A.u»tr*lisn (average qualify 1 ) beef, 36s ; mutton, 38a 6d. At the WO9I sale to-day 9400 bales wers offered. The market continues firm, and crossbreds are rather higher. 28,000 bales have been withdrawn since the opening. June 6. Off coast cargoes of South Australian wheat are selling at 40s. The total quantify of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,970,000 quarters. Wcol—At to-dny'a auction 9400 bales were offered, and good competition was evinced. Crossbreds are now ruling labout a penny higher than at the close of ast sales. June 7. Australian wheat Is unchanged. Of nine cargoes which have arrived several have been despatched to the Continent. One July forward shipment has been sold at 41s. Woolis Tory firm, especially crossbred. Theri have feeen 317,000 bales catalogued and 28,500 withdrawn.
