THE WAR IN THE SOUDAN.
London, May 2. Despatches relating to the Soudan were laid before both Hcuae of Parliament yesterday. Among the latest is one from Lord Graorilie to MajorGencral Gordon, dated April 23rd, requesting the Utter to state what force wonld be required to effect the rescue of the garrison at Khartoum and thoie of other towns in the Soudan that were inve»ted by the Arab rebels. The Egyptian Blue Book shows tbat the English Government hare frequently urged Gordon Pasha to withdraw from Khartoum, also that his despatches are incoherent and inconsistent. A large section of the English , Pregi assert that the despatches from Gordon Pasha ao not justify Mt Gladstone's optimism with regard to Khartoum. May 3. In the House of Commons to-day, Sir Michael Hicks-Beach gave notic* of motion censuring the Government for the delay which has occurred in the arrangements for relieving MajorGeneral Gordon.
